I announced on LinkedIn that I’d be launching a podcast well before Thriving in the Messy Middle existed. Putting it out into the world before it was real was part of the point as I knew it would help me manifest it.
As The Messy Middle Coach, I have the privilege of working 1:1 with people navigating their own messy middles. But my intention was always bigger than the room where I could hold one client at a time. This podcast was the spark that let that intention go wider: helping anyone in a messy season feel a little less alone.
Season One just wrapped — 18 guest conversations and 20 solo episodes (a mix of Messy Middle Moments and longer-form deep dives), 38 episodes in total. That’s a lot to keep up with, so here’s your catch-up list with one gem from each guest conversation, and a link to their episode.
Adrienne Valencia Garcia — “Invest in yourself, money, time, and resources as often as you can, as early as you can, and repeat.”
Alanna Fincke — “Resilience is not just about pushing through with grit. It’s a set of skills that support us in thriving and moving forward.”
Allison Arden — “There’s so much joy and so much goodness on the other side, and so much learning and growing.”
Jean Batthany — “Pause isn’t just a woo-woo personal indulgence. It’s a proven way to reduce chronic stress and perform actually better.”
Jeanne Meyer — “Nobody thinks they need crisis management until they’re in the middle of a crisis.”
Joh Morris Benichou — “Thriving isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about learning how to grow, lead, and move forward, even when things feel messy.”
Kelly Wenzel — “The mess always comes before the morph. There’s always great change that’s coming on the other side of that mess.”
Kenetta Bailey — “We’ve got to be comfortable being uncomfortable.”
Laura Nespoli — “I always say when I’m feeling uncomfortable, this is a gift.”
Linda Thomas Brooks — “The messy middle is just another step along the way.”
Meb Francisco — “Embrace that messy middle. You’ll thank yourself for it tomorrow.”
Melissa Cohen — “Your voice is one of the most precious assets that you have.”
Melissa Grady Dias — “We learn more from failure, and if we never fail, we haven’t pushed far enough.”
Michele Fino — “It’s important to know what you’re good at and what you’re not good at.”
Mita Mallick — “We have control, we have agency, we have power over our careers and our lives.”
Sarena Diamond — “It’s lonely going by yourself. You get better by allowing other people to be part of this journey.”
Terry Yoffe — “If you can change your narrative from ‘I’m suffering’ to ‘oh, what a great opportunity I have to work on me and to figure out what tools I need.'”
Viktoria (Vik) Degtar — “At the end of the day, if you’re feeling uncomfortable, you’re probably exactly where you need to be.”
I am so grateful to every guest who shared so openly about what it looks like to thrive in the the messy middle. I hope these resonate with you!
Season one is a wrap, and season two is coming in September.
